Spend From rule application audit for account 1178Payments & Transfers
Task prompt
Picking up CP-31 for you — the Spend From complaint on account 1178 (user 333). Engineering won't touch it without numbers, so I need the whole thing reconstructed from the warehouse rather than taken on the member's word. Read CP-31 first: the member's own account of what happened, and the comment our CX lead left when she closed it out, which is the working theory we're testing. Five things I need for that account: 1. The Groceries goal. The member has a savings goal they call Groceries. I need its subaccount id. Bear in mind people name their own goals, so go by what the member actually called it rather than by how the system filed it internally. 2. The rule history. The member insists they watched an old Spend From rule deactivate the day a new one was created. That history is on record somewhere, so reconstruct it instead of taking their word for it: how many Spend From rules have ever been written against the Groceries goal on this account, and how many of those are still live today. Scope this to the Groceries goal specifically — this member runs Spend From rules on dozens of their goals, and the account-wide total is not the answer. 3. The goal draws, split by who applied them. Take every posted movement out of that Groceries goal's envelope and split it into the draws the Spend From rule applied on its own versus the ones a person tagged by hand afterwards. Whether a human touched the spend-from assignment is recorded per transaction, so classify off that. Count every posted draw against the envelope however the transaction was booked — internal transfers and book entries out of the goal count exactly the same as card purchases here, so do not narrow this to card spend. And reconcile the split against the full set of goal draws before you trust it: if it only accounts for a fraction of the draws you found, you are reading the wrong table. 4. The gap — posted grocery purchases the rule should have caught and didn't. Count purchases on this account where all of the following hold: the purchase has posted rather than being pending; its original category is a grocery category; it is money going out of the account (the purchase amount, not an envelope movement); it was not drawn from the Groceries goal, counting purchases that sit under no subaccount at all as not drawn from it; and nobody tagged it by hand either. 5. The verdict. Given what the rules actually look like, say whether the member's complaint is founded and what is really causing the gap. Then close it out: open a Slack channel called "spend-from-rule-1178-audit", post your verdict with the headline numbers in it and pin that message; file the Engineering ticket in project ENG (project key ENG) titled "Spend From rule audit — account 1178"; and reply to me with grocery_goal_subaccount_id, grocery_spend_from_rule_count, active_grocery_spend_from_rule_count, posted_auto_applied_from_goal_count, posted_manual_applied_from_goal_count, and posted_grocery_untagged_count.
